PORT WASHINGTON BMW CLUB
About the Port Club
The Port Washington BMW Club #116 was chartered by Jim "Santa" Klas in 1981 along with a small group of dedicated BMW riders.
The Port Club is always involved with VOLUNTEERING at the BMWMOA National Rally. You can see the blue Port Club shirts working at bartending and gate/security.
After the 1993 Oshkosh National Rally, it was decided that, when the BMW's left Oshkosh, we did not leave anything for the people of Oshkosh. The Port Club gave the BMWMOA Board $100 as "Seed Money" for a charity that benefits the local region that the BMWMOA National Rally is held at. The PORT CLUB CHALLENGE .The Port Club challenges any other BMWMOA Club annually to match the $100 seed money.
The demographics of the Port Club could be divided out in 3 sections. One third of the Club lives within 20 miles of Port Washington. One third live 30 miles south in the Milwaukee Metro area, & one third live thirty miles north in the Sheboygan, northern Kettle Moraine, Lake Winnebago areas.
The Port Club has a get together with all the Wisconsin Area Clubs. Called THE WILD GOOSE RUN, the Port Club gives out a TRAVELING TROPHY for the largest percentage of any local Club members present.
The Club normally also has a Holiday Christmas Party, a Spring/Summer Picnic, a summer shoot out, an overnighter, monthly breakfast and summer rides.
While the Port Club sponsors a diverse set of activities, we first and foremost love riding our bikes. If you check the Port's web page high mileage honor roll, you will see that the Port Club has some very high mileage BMW riders. The Port Club has had many top 25 BMW National Mileage winners dating back from the late 70's to present. The Port Club has had a great past and is planning on a great future.
